Announcement/Subscription/Publication (ASP) is an approach for content-based communication, decoupled in time, space, threads and semantics. The idea behind ASP is to rely only on neighbor-relations and does not involve any communication infrastructure above the link-layer. This makes the ASP approach perfectly suitable for application communication in smart and ubiquitous environments. In this paper we analyze the process of implementing scenarios using the ASP approach. After specifying the necessary requirements for application interfaces and the behaviour of the middleware we identify circumstances where problems could arise and present our solutions to these problems.
